FE-1600 Sound - I/O Processor Chip
The FE-1600 Sound - I/O Processor Chip was designed for our high-end Sound
Board to facilitate rapid development of control products. The chip is also available separately. This chip utilizes inexpensive external
memory to store high quality single/dual voice sound. Sound quality easily exceeds that available
with competitive sound-on-chip products. The chip also facilitates debounce of up to 16 external
inputs with programmable high and low going debounce.
FE-1600 Hardware Features:
3V or 5V Operation
Dual Voice 10 Bit Sound Output (after hardware decompression / integration)
Asynchronous Serial Communications Control Channel
Up to 10 Digital Outputs via external 74HC174 latches
Debounce 16 digital inputs (requires 2 8-bit latches), or 8 inputs (standalone)
Interrupt Output upon Operation Complete (1 mSec, Complete Code put out on A0-A5, see note)
Requires external 16 or 20 MHz Crystal or Oscillator
Compatible with 1Meg, 2Meg, 4Meg, 8Meg EPROM
Compatible with 8Meg 5V FLASH (Am29F800B and others)
Compatible with 8Meg 3V FLASH (Am29LV081B and others)
Compatible with 32Meg 3V FLASH (Am29LV033C and others)
FE-1600 Software Features:
Programmable Sound Rate
Downloadable Sound Segments (FLASH Versions)
64 Variable Length Sound Segments per channel (indices are stored in EPROM or FLASH)
Commands:
Start Either Sound at Start of Any Segment
Start Either Sound at any Memory Offset
Pause/Restart Either Sound
Stop Either Sound
